A standard lens setup and your DSLR would give you multiple compositions here. The timing does not need to be specific but anytime around evening and before dark would be ideal. If it is on a clear day, then it is the ultimatum.
Travel Information
The spot can be reached via Foot by climbing stairs from the old city center. For those who need easy access, there is a funicular railway stop for the Castle and one needs to walk around 200m before reaching the spot. You will be required to have an entry ticket to the castle to access the spot. If you are coming by a funicular, you can get a combi ticket (Panorama-Return) to access the spot.
