Eltz Castle is a well known german castle that was built in the 12th century and has never been destroyed in its history! The Castle is overlooking the Elzbach near Wierschem. It is very well conserved and yields very nice views with its bay windows and battlements.
This spot is located on the footpath to the castle.

Photography Tips

This spot should definitely be visited in autumn. The colorful trees which surround the castle make a decent background for every shot!
This location offers lots of spots to capture the castle from different angles. You should carry a tripod and different lenses to cover a focal length from 16mm to 70mm. In some situations a polarizer can help to make the colors really pop.
Depending on which time of the day you visit this spot it might be a crowded tourist attraction. All those people take photos and selfies on the bridge to the castle so often long exposures with ND-filters don't even work to get rid of "ghosts". I recommend to visit the castle before the doors open and catch a marvelous sunrise which is mostly accompanied by fog that creates its own mystical feeling.

Travel Information

Eltz Castle has its own car park that costs 2 Euros.
You can reach the castle from there in two different ways. The first one is a footpath through the forest and the valley and the second one is the road where the shuttle bus runs every few minutes.
To reach this spot follow the sign for the footpath! You'll need about 10 minutes to get to the spot.
I recomment to walk back to the car park by taking the road where the shuttle bus runs. This way offers some more interesting angles.

Guter Standpunkt.

Hey Niko, great shots! Please be so kind and delete the second image though and add it to the spot in front of the castle that is already existing. Thank you very much! :)

Kanns vom Bild her schwer einschätzen. Danke dir für alles!
