Do you know if the use of tripod is allowed? I've been hearing stories about people being told off because of that. Thanks!

I used a small tripod that was standing on the wall of the river Thames but I have seen a lot of people use tripod on the riverwalk and I myself have used a full standing tripod before. I know tripods are not allowed in the city area because it causes an obstruction to pedestrians on the pavements but I have never been stopped.
