Hektor Whaling Station is located in one of the safest harbours in Antarctica on Deception Island. Sealers found the island in the 1820s and it was not till the early 1900s it was used as a base for the their mother ship then in 1908-10 Hektor Whaling Station was established and abandoned in 1931

This was one of the stops on our 10 day boat trip to Antarctica departing from Ushuaia Argentina.
