Active Sound separates Joinville Island from the Antarctic Peninsula mainland (specifically near Dundee Island and the tip of the peninsula). It’s often filled with sea ice, which makes navigation there quite challenging and adds to that wild, remote feeling of the region.

Photography Tips

Don´t miss your sunset chance in this insane landscape. Most of the people are going to dinner at this time but you will have the most beautiful chance doe some great shots.

I like it to get some unsharp elements in the foreground for a bit more dynamic in the framing.

Travel Information

You only can reach Antarctica by an expedition boat. Most of the unforgettable journeys are starting from Ushuaia Argentinia.

Bring special gloves and warm clothes if you want to stay longer out on deck. It's freezing cold.
