Antarctica Gerlache Strait, Antarctica
Gerlache Strait is one of the most iconic passages along the Antarctic Peninsula, separating the mainland from the offshore islands. Surrounded by steep, glaciated peaks and drifting icebergs, it offers some of the most dramatic scenery in Antarctica. The strait is also rich in wildlife—whales, seals, and vast penguin colonies are commonly spotted, making it a highlight for expedition cruises.
Photography Tips
Be outside for sunset. Sometimes the light gives you the perfect contrast between huge blue icebergs and the golden glow. Watch out for a perspective where mountains of the Antarctica mainland are in the back.
