This is just stunning landscape. I admit I am somewhat guessing at the location, but it is definitely south of Chos Malal and before Zapala.

Lots of areas to pull over however try to park rather than just pull over on the side of the road and don't stray too far from your vehicle. short and long lenses equally good.

Car/4x4 are the best choice. Lots of areas to pull off the main road, best to park rather than just pull over on the side of the road. Most cars slow when they see a vehicle pulled over to make sure you're okay. Wave hello so they know you're not broken down or have run out of gas/petrol.
