From Uspallata Ruta Nacional 7 runs towards Chile. The road follows the Rio Mendoza, which has wrested this impressive, narrow "Dry Valley" from the Andes. In addition, it has carved out a no less impressive canyon at the bottom of the valley. The mountains on both sides of the road are not only imposing, they are also particularly colourful. All shades of red, brown, ochre and yellow are represented. In places, there is also deep black.
