Shortly before the end of the hike, another highlight awaits you. At the Sendero de Los Arrayanes, a path with very unusual trees awaits you. The Arrayan is an evergreen tree that grows very slowly. It can grow to be up to 600 years old and reaches a height of 10 to 15, rarely even 20 meters. The Arrayan tree has a twisted and curved trunk, the bark of which is cinnamon-colored and peels off easily. These trees were incredibly fascinating, as I had never seen them before. They are native to Chile and Argentina.

Photography Tips

The trees are difficult to photograph well as they are very tall and you only get a small part of the tree in the photo. It is better to take overview photos of the forest or detailed shots of the unusual structure.

Travel Information

Bus route 20 runs regularly to Llao Llao. You have to get off at the terminus. This is where the hike from Circuito Chico starts, which is well worth seeing.
