From this angle the Zugspitze massif is beautifully lit around sunset in mid-summer (pictures were taken beginning of July).

Photography Tips

After the strenuous ascent, sit down in front of the hut with a cool drink and wait for the sun to set. :-)

The close up picture was taken with a 150mm (full frame) lens. The panorama shot with a 24mm lens.

Travel Information

Park at Fernsteinsee (or take a public bus) and then hike up to Lorea Hütte (Lorea cabin). You can book an overnight stay in the DAV self-catering hut (https://www.lorea-huette.com).
