Photography Tips

It’s best to shoot in the morning, when the sun is still low. In early May there’s barely any vegetation, so the barren, lunar-like landscape adds an even more striking contrast to the image.

Travel Information

Reach the spot via the toll-road Malta Hochalmstraße (about 12 km from Gmünd). There’s ample free parking at the reservoir, and in early May the lot is almost empty.
