Belgium Boetfort Castle
Castle Boetfort or Madoets castle, is first mentioned as a walled farmstead in 1581.
On 20 December 1594 the castle was sold to Brussels alderman Henry Madoets. At that time, the castle was only a ruin that had been completely transformed into rubble. The restoration of the castle was only completed in 1610. The new Madoets castle would once have served as a hunting pavilion, when Louis XIV of France was passing through these regions.
In its present state, the castle dates from the 17th-18th century with restorations from the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The moat was filled in 1880.
Until a few years ago there was a restaurant in the castle. In 2008, the Van Der Zijpen family bought the castle and it became a spa and wellness centre.
