Bhutan Punakha Dzong

From my opinion this is the most beautiful Dzong (Buddhist monastery / fortress) in Bhutan. It is located at the confluence of two rivers and you access it either over a covered wooden bridge from the one side or over a spectacular suspension bridge from the other side.

Photography Tips

There is a typical view from the street when you approach the Dzong. This is a must have shot. But also try some other perspectives and invest some time to walk around. The suspension bridge on the other side is spectacular and worth the effort to walk there. Best pf course is ti visit the Dzong during a Tsechu (Festival) when you also can witness the impressive performance of the masked dancers inside the Dzong.

The Dzong is easy to reach and parking is available.
