Die alte Brücke von Mostar, die Stari Most, verbindet seit dem 16. Jahrhundert die beiden Ufer der Neretva und steht sinnbildlich für Verbindung und Versöhnung. Zugleich gilt sie als symbolische Brücke zwischen Morgenland und Abendland, da sie über Jahrhunderte hinweg Kulturen, Religionen und Lebensweisen miteinander verband. Nach ihrer Zerstörung im Bosnienkrieg wurde sie originalgetreu wiederaufgebaut und zählt heute zum UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe.
