Bulgaria Lonely Tree at Rozhen Sandstone Pyramids, Melnik
The Rozhen Sandstone Pyramids and the Melnik are all around the city of Melnik. Towering up to 100m in height, these impressive rocks stick out like needles and creating an otherworldly landscape.
Photography Tips
Use a super wide angle lens (minimum 20mm, better 14/16mm) as the perspectives close to the lonely tree offer great foregrounds, leading into the sharp sandstone pyramids. Furthermore, telezoom photos also turn out to be amazing, getting details of the surrounding landscapes.
Travel Information
The parking lot is situated at the Rojen Monastery nearby. The hike takes around 20-30 minutes along sandy paths. At halfway, there are planks and little fences as a support at some steeper parts. The hike is also doable with kids. From the plateau continue for around 150m until the lonely tree.
