Canada Western Brook Pond
The boat tour into the 16KM deep Western Brook Pond is well worth the 3 km walk from parking lot to dock, and the fee. Western Brook Pond is a now "lake" that was once open to the ocean. It is glacial carved and effectively an ex-Fjord. It is one of the most picturesque locations within the immensely stunning Gros Morne National Park.
Photography Tips
The boat ride can be windy and wet. Keep your camera in a secure location, and keep wipes handy to dry off the inevitable spray that it will encounter.
Travel Information
Getting to Gros Morne Park is easiest done in a personal vehicle. It is about an 1hr north of the nearest significant city, Corner Brook. Though there are plenty of places to stay in the nearer villages.
Western Brook Pond access parking is plentiful early in the day. There is a 3km walk from the parking to the boat dock - though there is a golf cart option for those with mobility issues.
