Czech Republic Petrin Garden
This is an ideal place for early spring photography, when the trees in the gardens are in bloom. The morning sun rises directly in line with the Church of Our Lady and often shines straight into the lens, so knowing how to work with backlight is very important.
Photography Tips
It is worth coming to see the location beforehand, so you have an idea of the possible angles, compositions and the terrain where you will be shooting. The slope is quite steep and can be very slippery when the grass is wet, so you need to be careful when working with a tripod. In any case, I found shooting handheld more useful here — you have more flexibility and if you have a steady hand, you can even hold three exposures at once… like me, heh.
The actual shooting always depends on the current light and the mood of the place. The possibilities are practically endless, especially when working with the foreground, where the flowering branches naturally frame the view of the church.
In spring there are often many people here already early in the morning, as many photographers are waiting for this moment. Getting up early and claiming a suitable tree in time is practically a necessity.
