Czech Republic Castle Trosky

An significant ruin of the castle, which is also a symbol of Bohemian Paradise.
The castle was founded in the fourteenth century. It played an important role during the Hussite wars, when it belonged to the Lords of Bergov and, together with other castles in the area, formed an important support for the Catholic party. The castle withstood two sieges at that time and was not conquered until 1469 by the army of King George of Poděbrady. From the second half of the fifteenth century Trosky ceased to serve as a residence of the nobility. It belonged to the estate of Kost Castle and later to Hrubá Skála. In the last third of the Thirty Years' War the castle was alternately occupied and conquered by Swedish and imperial troops. After the war it was no longer maintained and gradually turned into a ruin.

To the village of Troskovice, the castle cannot be overlooked. Please note that sometimes the car park is very crowded and it is difficult to park. There is an entrance fee and the castle is only open during certain hours, you need to check the castle website.
