Czech Republic Town Tower, Třebíč
Třebíč town tower. Originally a separate tower which was part of the medieval fortification of the town. Later the church of St. Michael was added to it. Its height to the top of the cross is 75 metres. Observation platform is located at a height of 35 metres. It was built around 1335, when Trebic attained the municipal law. The current roof truss was designed by Dominik Herzán in 1862. The original trusses burnt down several times.
The faces of the tower clocks are among the largest in Europe. Each dial has a diameter of 5.5 metres. The large rafik is 234 centimetres long from the centre of the dial. The small one measures 174 centimetres from the centre. The two raffia together weigh 145 kilograms. The individual numerals of the dial measure 60 centimetres in height.
You can see the tower, but there is a small fee and only at certain hours. Get ready for a lot of stairs.
