Czech Republic Old Vítkov Tunnel
The old Vítkov Tunnel in Prague's Žižkov district, together with the Vítkov Railway Line on which it lies, was built between Prague Main Station and Prague-Vysočany Station between 1870 and 1872 as part of the Turnov-Kralupy-Prague Railway.
After the new Vítkov tunnels, which are part of the so-called New Connection, were put into operation on September 1, 2008, the Vítkov line was closed on the same date and the Vítkov switchyard building was demolished.
Originally, the tunnel was supposed to be bricked up, but in the end it was decided to convert the track, including the tunnel, into a cycle path.
The tunnel is 270 m long.
