Czech Republic 'Velký Radvan' - Transmitter
RKS Moravské Budějovice was a medium-wave transmitter used for radio broadcasting, consisting of two masts located on Velký Radvan hill above Domamilí near Moravské Budějovice. The taller of the two (no longer standing) measured 107.5 meters, while the smaller one is 85.5 meters high.
History: During socialism, the primary task of these masts was to jam Western radio broadcasts. Western radio was jammed most heavily until 1964. Then there was a relaxation: only some frequencies were jammed, and later only spoken word or selected programs. After August 21, 1968, the transmitter was occupied by Soviet soldiers. At the end of the 1980s, the transmitter interfered less and less and broadcast more and more. After 1989, the waves from Domamila also carried the signal of Radio Free Europe.
On April 15, 2024, the taller mast was removed.
