Czech Republic Velehrad
One of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Czechia. In folk tradition, it is identified with Veligrad, the main center of Great Moravia.
The village is home to the oldest Cistercian abbey in Moravia, which has belonged to the Jesuits since 1890 and is the destination of the annual National Pilgrimage to Velehrad on July 5, held in honor of St. Cyril and Methodius; since 2000, this event has been part of the Days of Goodwill. The monastery complex is a protected cultural monument of the Czechia.
