Czech Republic Castle Rokštejn

The castle was originally called Rukštejn, presumably after its founder, Ruth. In the 14th century, it was owned by Margrave John Henry. In 1468, during the Bohemian-Hungarian Wars, it succumbed to a raid by the army of the Hungarian King Matthias and was razed to the ground. It has been uninhabited since the 16th century.
The main residential prismatic tower, the remains of two palaces and sections of the castle walls have survived. Among the archaeological finds, the discovery of the skeleton of a newborn baby walled into the castle’s foundations is particularly noteworthy; this may indicate that pagan customs were still practised as late as the 13th century.

It’s a picturesque ruin and there are plenty of spots from which to take photos. Both the sunrises and sunsets here are beautiful.
