Faroe Islands Trælanípa
The "sunset" view point of Trælanípa cliffs and Sorvagsvatn lake.
Trælanípa rises dramatically above Sørvágsvatn, the largest lake in the Faroe Islands, creating the famous optical illusion where the lake seems to float high above the ocean.
From the cliffs you get sweeping views over the Atlantic, the surrounding islets, and on a clear day even as far as the island of Mykines.

Photography Tips
Bring waterproof clothes, It rains 300days/year on Faroes so be prepaired. Bring some cleaning cloth for lens. Lots of it. If it rains, which is very often, you will need it between shots. Be carefull- wind is strong and cliffs are steep.
I recomend very wide lens, such as 11mm on FF. But if you are not fan of pronounced foregrounds you can survive with 14-16mm.
Do not leave your camera and tripod unatended because of the strong wind.

Travel Information
Parking is free at the beginning of the trail. Well marked from the town of Midvagur. The trail costs 200DKK for person. The ticket is valid for 1 day so sunrise and sunset can be done using 1 ticket. The roudtrip is no longer possible because of bird protection. For the same reason do not use the unpaid entry at the end of the path (corner of road 11 near the lake). Respect the nature and protect it.
It took me about 35mins to get from parking lot to the location. The hike is very easy. The only small climb is at the end to the very spot.
