Finland Ukko-Luosto at night, Luosto-Pyhä National Park (winter)
Ukko-Luosto is one of the most prominent fells in Pyhä-Luosto National Park, rising to about 514 meters above sea level. It offers wide panoramic views over the surrounding boreal forests, frozen mires, and rolling hills typical of Finnish Lapland.
The fell is part of an ancient mountain chain, shaped over billions of years, making it one of the oldest landscapes in Europe. Today, Ukko-Luosto is a popular yet still peaceful hiking destination, known for its accessible trails and scenic viewpoints — especially striking in winter, when the entire area is covered in snow and Arctic light.

Northern Lights setting: wide angle, most open aperture that is possible with your lens, tripod and lots of batteries! Make sure your settings are set to manual focus and look for the right sharpness. The image stabilization on the lens should also be switched off.
Travel Information
The winter hike to Ukko-Luosto is one of the most scenic adventures in Pyhä-Luosto National Park. The trail leads you through snow-covered pine forests up to the rounded fell, where wide-open views stretch across the frozen landscape of Finnish Lapland.
In winter, the path requires good footwear or snowshoes, especially after fresh snowfall. The ascent is relatively short but can feel demanding in deep snow and cold temperatures and high wind speed. At the top, you’re rewarded with a quiet, almost endless horizon — a place where the Arctic silence truly settles in, especially during sunrise, sunset, blue hour or at night with northern lights.
