Finland Riisitunturi National Park

Riisitunturi National Park is a famous place to see the "tykky", the famous snow covered trees of Lapland.

Definitely come during golden hour to get a beautiful color on the trees and snow. If you can plan for a moonrise or moonset you can get extraordinary compositions. Bring a telephoto lens to get some compression with the foreground.

From Tolva, Riisitunturi National Park is easy to reach by road. Follow the Posio–Tolva road and look for the junction to Riisitunturi about 3.5 km before Tolva; from there, a 3 km gravel road leads directly to the main entrance and parking area of the national park. The trailhead is located near the former Syrjälahti parking area on Tolvantie.

There are different trails and most of them do loops around the park. They are fairly easy, even in winter. You don't need snowshoes to hike there as the snow is packed down.
