Finland Ukko-Luosto, Pyhä-Luosto National Park
Ukko-Luosto is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Pyhä-Luosto National Park, offering panoramic views over the endless forests and rolling fells of Finnish Lapland. Even in autumn, the hike is well worth it, with colourful landscapes and beautiful contrasts between the golden trees and dark evergreen forests. The 575 steps leading to the summit make the final climb a little challenging, but the views from the top are a great reward.
Photography Tips
Try shooting at a 45-degree angle instead of always looking straight down. This allows you to use the lower forests as a natural foreground, creating depth and framing the distant fells.
Travel Information
The hike starts at Luosto Gate (Luostonportti), where you can park your car. Follow the marked trail towards Ukko-Luosto and the 575 steps leading to the summit. The round trip via the stairs is approximately 5 km and takes around 3–4 hours, depending on your pace and stops. The trail is open for hiking in summer and autumn, but can be steep and rocky in places.
