Finland Aittakuru gorge, Pyhä-Luosto National Park
The gorge was shaped by Ice Age processes, leaving behind the distinctive rocky landscape visible today. A wooden walkway leads through the gorge, making it an easy and atmospheric spot to explore, especially in autumn when the colours contrast with the bare rock.
Photography Tips
Use the wooden walkway as a leading line to guide the viewer's eye deeper into the gorge. Position yourself low or slightly to the side of the path and let the boardwalk lead towards the stairs, rock walls or a person in the distance. In autumn, the combination of the walkway, colourful vegetation and rugged rocks creates a strong sense of depth.
Travel Information
Aittakuru is located about 2.2 km from central Pyhä along the Pyhä-Luosto Road. There is a small parking area on the right side of the road when driving from Pyhä towards Luosto, followed by a walk of less than 500 metres to the gorge. Alternatively, the Aittakuru trail can be accessed from the Pyhä resort area, with longer routes leading through Tajukangas.
