The region around Ruka and Kuusamo in northeastern Finland is full of beautiful forest roads that wind through endless pine forests, colorful birch trees, and remote wilderness. Especially south of Oulanka National Park, towards the Russian border, you'll find countless gravel roads that offer fantastic opportunities for landscape and drone photography.

In autumn, golden foliage, dark evergreen forests, and atmospheric weather create particularly beautiful scenery. It's not about finding one specific location; it's about exploring the area and discovering interesting compositions along the way.

A drone is perfect for capturing these remote forest roads from above. Look for long, straight sections that create strong leading lines through the surrounding trees. Position your drone directly above the road or slightly behind your vehicle to emphasize the perspective and depth of the landscape.

Including a car or campervan adds scale and a storytelling element. Overcast weather, light rain, or morning mist can make these scenes even more atmospheric, while autumn provides beautiful contrasts between the green conifers and golden birch trees.
