The Kuusinkijoki River in northeastern Finland winds through endless forests, creating beautiful river bends and natural islands surrounded by untouched wilderness. Near Kuusamo and the Russian border, this remote landscape is especially impressive from above.
In autumn, golden birch trees contrast beautifully with dark green conifers and the winding river. The combination of multiple river bends, small islands, and seemingly endless forests makes this an incredible location for aerial landscape photography.

Photography Tips
A drone is definitely the best way to capture the impressive scale of this landscape. For this shot, I chose a high, slightly downward-facing perspective to capture several river bends and the surrounding forest stretching to the horizon.
The winding river creates a natural leading line through the composition, while the golden autumn trees add beautiful color contrasts. Late afternoon and golden hour work particularly well, especially when sunlight breaks through the clouds and illuminates individual sections of the forest.
Experiment with different camera angles and flying heights. A wider perspective emphasizes the vast wilderness, while a telephoto lens can help isolate individual river bends and create more abstract compositions.
