Finland Pähkänäkallio, Oulanka Nationalpark
Pähkänäkallio is one of the most spectacular viewpoints in Oulanka National Park in northeastern Finland, offering breathtaking views over the winding Kitkajoki River. Surrounded by dense forests and steep riverbanks, the area is particularly famous for its beautiful river bends and untouched wilderness scenery.
During autumn, the landscape transforms into a colorful mixture of golden birch trees and dark green conifers. The river's distinctive curves create beautiful natural patterns, making this one of the most photogenic locations in the entire Kuusamo region.

Photography Tips
For this shot, I used a medium zoom to isolate one river bend rather than capture the entire landscape. The tighter composition emphasizes the beautiful S-shaped curve of the river and the contrast between the golden autumn trees and dark water.
A focal length between 24 and 70mm works particularly well for these compositions. Look for natural layers, with trees in the foreground, the river in the middle, and colorful forests in the background.
Early morning and late afternoon provide beautiful lighting conditions, although overcast weather can also work well by reducing harsh contrasts. September is especially rewarding when the autumn colors are at their peak.
