This is one of the best lavender spots in Provence.
The rolling hill gives 3D and the tree a lovely background. It is close to the Angelvin lavender shop SW of Valensole on Route de Manosque.

Photography Tips

Use a tripod! I took 6 shots at f8 at various focal distances with a Zeiss Apo Sonnar T 135 / 2.0 on my alpha7 riii and processed the raw stack with Helicon Focus to get this depth of view. Come to this place an hour before sunset or so. The colours of the flowers then change every 15 min.

I dragged my family around Provence, looking for such a shot. I got some but none as good as this. I really like this one - nicely spotted, beautifully shot.

Thanks Edward, yes there are a few nice spots, especially around Valensole. This is probably the best spot IMO (I just realized that the colors are a bit dull on this posted pic - probably as I did not convert it properly from AdobeRGB to sRGB). Anyway, I hope you will be able to return to Provence at some point! Holger
