Grand Balcon South is a great spot for many hikes, In the early morning and evening hours you may be lucky to meet ibex and chamois that show up as soon as many people have not yet left early in the morning or are on their way back to the valley from the afternoon on.

Photography Tips

For wildlife, it's always worth having your telephoto lens ready in the early morning or evening. Here it was especially beautiful because the top of Mont Blanc was illuminated in the background.

Travel Information

You can walk all the way up from Chamonix or take the cable car to Refuge La Flegere. From there you have several options to hike. Way to this spot needs around 3,8km and is near Lac de Chéserys. Please be well prepared with hiking equipment and enough water.
