France The Lavender Fields of Saignon

  • Please log in or sign up for free to see the GPS coordinates & weather for this photo spot
The Little Luberon of Vaucluse has amazing lavender fields; better than the Valensole area and with much fewer tourists. In addition, you are able to use as backgrounds the amazing hillside villages which show nicely in the evenings. Each village is also wonderful to visit and has great cafes in which to enjoy some fine French food.

Photography Tips

I would approach this shot in the evening when the village is front-lit and there is a sidelight on the lavender for the best lighting. Set up the tripod and wait for the best light just before the sun sets.

Travel Information

Approach from the D232 and find easy parking on the side of the road and climb a small slope to the lavender field.

Thank you for your comments Stefan. I am terribly sorry you feel the co-ordinates are incorrect. The trip was long enough ago I cannot argue but it is the best to my recollect as we approached Saignon from Bonnieux on this road and drove past the fields. The village itself is spectacular for photography and a restaurant there serves the best local boeuf daube. The fields surrounding the village are also amazing. I would visit it anyway, look around for the lavender fields and correct me where you find I am incorrect. Thanks.

Thank you for posting this spot. Do I'm going right, that the picture is not taken on the coordinates you have published? The angle to the village is not possible in my opinion. Are the lavender fields around Saignon worth a visit? Or is only a good shot together with the village possible? Thanks
