France Phare de la Gacholle

The Gacholle Lighthouse is located between Les Saintes-Maries and Salin-de-Giraud, in the heart of the Camargue National Nature Reserve. This lighthouse is powered by a solar generator and measures 18 meters. It is not open to visitors, but you can hike or bike nearby.

Check local drone regulations first. You might need to obtain a permit from the local authorities. Bring a polarizer and come for golden hour to get soft shadows.

Travel Information

From Aigues-Mortes, take the D979 toward Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and follow the signs for the Camargue beaches and “Phare de la Gacholle.” After passing through the marshlands and lagoons, continue on the Route de la Mer until you reach the dirt access road leading to Parking du Phare de la Gacholle. The drive takes around 45 minutes. You can do it with a regular car.
