The Pic du Midi is a famous mountain in the Pyrenees. At the top, there is a big observatory and a glass walkway. From there, you can see the mountains and the landscape very far away. It is a special place, especially when the sky is clear. It's perfect for astrophotographers and you can stay overnight if you book one of the rooms !

Photography Tips

Try to go on a clear day because you can see much more from the top. The glasswalk is good for photos with the mountains in the background. Early morning or late afternoon can give nice light and better colors. I prefer early morning to avoid the crowds:)

Travel Information

The closest city is Bagnères-de-Bigorre. From there, drive towards La Mongie, where you can park and take the cable car to the Pic du Midi. The drive takes around 40 minutes. You can also hike to the top but it takes several hours.
