France Comes
Comes is an old abandoned village in the Pyrénées-Orientales, near Eus. The village was first mentioned in 844, so it has a very long history. There was a castle in Comes in 1311, but not it's demolished. People lived mainly from farming, but the village had a big problem with water. The area was very dry and the inhabitants used water tanks to collect rain. During the 20th century, the water became more difficult to find, and almost every people left the village.
Today, Comes is a small village in ruins and there is only a shepherd living here permanently. If you get there, you might see him and his dogs/sheep. He is very friendly but please respect "his" village as he is maintaining the houses and ruins.
