Georgia Makhuntseti Waterfall, Georgia

Makhuntseti Waterfall is one of Adjara’s most impressive and easily accessible waterfalls, dropping through a steep, densely forested gorge around 30 kilometers from Batumi. While the viewpoint from below is already beautiful, the aerial perspective reveals the true scale of the waterfall and how deeply it is embedded within the lush Georgian landscape. Make sure to come early, as this place gets extremly crowded during the day!

A drone offers one of the best perspectives of Makhuntseti Waterfall. Flying above the surrounding trees allows you to frame the entire cascade while using the dense forest as a natural frame. A polarization filter can help preserving the details and colors in the leaves, while overcast conditions are particularly useful here as they reduce harsh highlights on the water and preserve detail in the dark forest.

Makhuntseti Waterfall is located roughly 30 kilometers southeast of Batumi and can be reached in around 40–50 minutes by car. From the parking area, it is only a short walk to the waterfall, making it an easy stop on a day trip into the mountains of Adjara.
