Georgia Mtirala National Park Suspension Bridge, Georgia

This rustic suspension bridge is one of the small discoveries that make exploring Mtirala National Park so rewarding. Stretching across a fast-flowing mountain river and surrounded by dense subtropical forest, the narrow wooden bridge feels wonderfully adventurous. The Georgian flag at the far end adds a distinctive splash of color to an otherwise completely green landscape. But be aware, this bridge is not in the best shape. So be careful when crossing!

Photograph the bridge straight on from one end to use its strong leading lines, drawing the viewer directly toward your subject and the forest beyond. A person standing near the center provides scale and makes the composition feel much more adventurous. A wide-angle lens works especially well, while shooting from a slightly lower position emphasizes the wooden planks and cables in the foreground. Soft or overcast light is ideal for retaining detail throughout the dense forest.

The suspension bridge sits directly along the main road leading deeper into Mtirala National Park, making it an easy photo stop on the way to the park’s hiking trails and waterfalls. There is enough space nearby to pull completely off the road and park safely before walking to the bridge. The wooden surface is uneven and can become slippery when wet, so take care when crossing, particularly after the frequent rainfall Mtirala is known for.
