This is a beautiful, relatively unknown spot in the popular area of sout-east Bavaria, Berchtesgaden. The full panorama of beautiful woodland and the magnificent mountain range reaches from west to south.

Photography Tips

Come early after sunrise to witness some mist in the valleys after a wet night and the glowing peaks. This should also be a good sunset location at least in wintertime when the sun will be right of Germany's second highest peak, the Watzmann.

Travel Information

From Marktschellenberg, take the road "Tiefenbachstraße" southwards until the crossing with "Götschenweg". This small road leads north along some farmyards and calm holiday homes. You will reach the farmyard "Leitenlehen" where you can park your car alongside the road. Walk up the steep grass hill until you reach the forest. Go along the edge of the forest to search for the best spot.
