Germany View from Florian Tower, Dortmund
The Florian Tower, or Florianturm, rises majestically over Dortmund’s Westfalenpark as both a historic TV tower and an iconic city landmark. Built in just 11 months for the 1959 Bundesgartenschau, it once held the title of Germany’s tallest free-standing structure at nearly 220 m. Today it stands at 208.6 m, featuring a revolving restaurant and two observation decks at roughly 142 m, offering sweeping panoramic views across Dortmund and the Ruhr region. Named “Florian” through a public competition in honor of the gardener’s patron saint, the tower has since undergone renovations and remains a popular attraction for locals and visitors.
