Heidenopfertisch Germany

A prehistoric sacrification table, close to a couple of neolithic stone graves. Although the name would suggest it, it is rather the remains of a Neolithic grave, of which only the largest capstone has survived. Since it is flat, the people who lived in the vicinity of this grave assumed that it must have been an offering table. Hence the name.

Travel Information

You can use the car Park at the Landgasthof (although this is signed as a private car park and it might be a good idea to stop at the pub for a coffee or a beer ;-))
Then use the gate next to the Landgasthof. The spot is only a few steps away.
You can follow the trail for 4km which lead to another stone grave. Along the way there are picknick and rest areas.

Correctly one would have to say that this is not a sacrificial table, although the name would suggest it. It is rather the remains of a Neolithic grave, of which only the largest capstone has survived. Since it is flat, the people who lived in the vicinity of this grave assumed that it must have been an offering table. Hence the name.

Thanks, Holger. You are right. I made corrections to the description citing your statement. Did you check the other graves a couple of hundred meters as well? I found them to be pretty hard to take pictures of.

Yes, I checked them but had no chance to post process the shots so far. When I do, i'll load them up here.
