As Dominik already mentioned in the spot description, the south side of the Weidmannsee is the best place to start. This is also where you’ll find the characteristic rows of small islands. Background: The lake was originally a gravel pit. The islands formed when a floating excavator dug parallel lanes into the lake; the gravel that accumulated along the edges created the island-like ridges you see today. The spot is also excellent for bird photography — make sure to bring a telephoto lens!
