The lake Hintersee is a well known spot and you should be there before sunrise. August and September are perfect for a visit.
I also recommend you talk a walk around the lake. There is a spot called Zauberwald close by which you should check out.

You should go there car. There are public busses, but since you want to get there before sunrise a car is the best option.
