Fischerdorf Prerow liegt im Norden der Halbinsel Fischland-Darß-Zingst. Umgeben vom urwüchsigen Darßwald, einem Teil des Nationalparks Vorpommersche-Boddenlandschaft,
Auf 5 km Länge erstreckt sich ein feinsandiger und steinloser Strand in der Prerower Bucht, einer der schönsten Strände Europas. Stellenweise ist er bis zu 90 m breit.
