The place of worship was built in 1987 for the 850-year anniversary of the parish of St. Dionysius Havixbeck.
The centre of the simple, down-to-earth half-timbered structure is the wagon wheel in the southern gable wall, the important meditation aid in the prayer of Brother Klaus. Offset below it is the figure of the upright, straightforward, simple, protective Brother Klaus, St. Nicholas of the River (1417-1487), who was canonised in 1947, created by the sculptor Joseph Krautwald (+ January 2003).
