Germany Hirschsprung in the Höllental Gorge

  • Please log in or sign up for free to see the GPS coordinates & weather for this photo spot
The Hirschsprung Höllental is a spectacular viewpoint high above the Höllental valley near Lichtenberg and Issigau in the Franconian Forest (Bavaria).

The site owes its name to a local legend, according to which a hunted stag is said to have escaped its pursuers with a daring leap across the rocky gorge. Today, the rocky outcrop offers an impressive panoramic view of the deeply carved Selbitz Valley and the forested slopes of the Franconian Forest.

A wooden pavilion right at the lookout invites hikers to take a break. It is easily accessible via popular hiking trails such as the Frankenweg and is considered one of the region’s most beautiful photo spots and tourist destinations.
