The Hofgarten is part of the Residenz which was the palace, the bavarian king lived in when he stood in Munich
Photography Tips
The whole area brings a lot of possible spots like the Residenz, Theatiner Church, Victory Gate, etc.). Best time I think is sunset. Wath the people dancing to latin music in the temple which is right in the middle of the garden.
Travel Information
~ 5-10 Min walk to the north from the Munich city center (Marienplatz). Parking might get difficult but maybe you are lucky.
