Germany Henkersteg, Nuremberg
The Henkersteg, or Hangman's Bridge, is a historic wooden pedestrian bridge in Nuremberg built in the 15th century. It connects the Trödelmarkt island with the St. Lorenz district and offers beautiful views of the Pegnitz River. The bridge is named after the executioner who lived nearby and used it to cross the river privately. Today, it is a charming and important historic landmark in Nuremberg’s old town.
Travel Information
You can reach Henkersteg easily on foot from Nuremberg’s main train station in about 15 minutes. Alternatively, take tram lines 4 or 6 to the “Burg” stop and walk a few minutes. The bridge is located near Nuremberg Castle and offers lovely views of the Pegnitz River.
