Germany Die Claque
The group of sculptures “Die Claque” from Guido Messer consists of four bronze figures.
The claque was a group of people who were paid for their applause, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. Guido Messer accordingly depicts four men who applaud, but without a sign of emotion on their faces. Their posture and gestures as well as their faces are stereotypical, one is like the other.
